Neuroaffirmative communications
for human‑centered systems.
Welcome
I help mission-driven groups write and update neuroaffirmative content for social cohesion.
Dignity, autonomy, and cognitive diversity
Natural variations in neurocognition occur in all populations.
Despite this reality, conventional approaches to public engagement often do not account for neurodivergent experiences. Messaging that centers neurotypical norms can miss differences in focus, processing, communication, movement, and sensory perception.
Essential systems, such as healthcare, education, and employment, largely developed without neurodivergent input. This informs what is considered normal or valid, who is centered or marginalized, who decides, who has access, and how care and support are delivered.
Organizations working within larger systems tend to reinforce existing patterns by default. Yet an organization’s communication—its written, spoken, and visual messaging—also presents opportunities to interrupt and remake longstanding patterns of engagement.
Writing • Editing • Consultation
Launching in 2026, Studio Monotropia introduces a resource of neurodiversity-affirming communication services. My studio practice combines a career in communications and a lifetime of lived autistic experience.
As an autistic person and communications professional, I apply a neurodivergent lens to evaluate system-level engagement patterns and identify points of disconnect. Writing, editing, and consultation services draw from my personal experiences with autism and ADHD, as well as those of the neurodiverse community and current research.
Cross-neurotype collaboration
Studio Monotropia offers services to groups working in social impact areas as well as individuals whose work intersects with larger systems, movements, or decision‑making spaces. My studio practice is designed for socially conscious organizations and allies who appreciate the role of communications in systems change.
Recognizing systemic issues and their cumulative impact is a first step toward interrupting these patterns. Truly human-centered systems generate stability and protect autonomy, making it possible for neurodivergent people to participate and belong as we are.
At a time of compounding crises and social unrest, Studio Monotropia designs for social cohesion. Support and respect elevate all of us.
Consultation
Meaning + Impact Reading
Meaning + Impact Reading is the practice of evaluating existing content through a neurodivergent lens. I apply this lens to either a project- or systems-level review of engagement patterns. As a consultation service, my neuroaffirmative review is about meaning, not mechanics. Meaning + Impact Reading offers insight into the felt impact of language on real people. It’s a first step in designing communications for all neurotypes.
Writing services
Original writing + rewriting
Writing or rewriting any content through a neurodivergent lens establishes clear, intentional communication. Rewriting brings legacy content back into alignment with the mission, while original writing prevents such misalignment.
Editing services
Structural editing, copyediting, proofreading
Sentence-level editing results in well-structured content and sets up effective engagement. As a service, structural editing refines the clarity, cohesion, consistency, logical order, and pacing of each piece. Copyediting and proofreading services address mechanical issues and add final polish for publication.

Narrative design
When navigating complexity or transition, teams can benefit from stepping back to consider overarching narratives. The high-level work of narrative design articulates voice and gives direction to individual pieces of content. This collaborative process translates organizational purpose into systems-level storytelling and throughlines.
